In the Kazemattenmuseum you will experience how Dutch civilians enlisted in the army to stop an impending war, you will discover which battle took place on the Afsluitdijk and you will experience the liberation in 1945.
In and around the kazematten (Dutch), a bunker (German) and other buildings, you will travel through history starting in the 1920’s (planning and building of The Afsluitdijk) up and until the 1980’s (the end of the Cold War).
The Kazemattenmuseum also offers the audio tour “Indestructible Stories”. Ten fictionalized stories that hark back to true events and memories of the Second World War on Stelling Kornwerderzand.
